Under the guidance of Coach Baldwin we have watched this South Georgia State College Mens Basketball Team grow into a premier program in Georgia. Coming off a another stellar year featuring a 26-8 record, including a Region 17 championship and a journey to the NJCAA National tournament we are excited to see how the Hawks’ respond.
The South Georgia State College Hawks appear to be gearing up for another impressive season on the court, led by a group of talented returners who are ready to make their mark. This years Hawks’ team, albeit early, appears to have the perfect combination of experience and talent. Kyrie Davis, Yannis Woods, and JoJo Bell all stood out this past weekend at the ACCC Showcase in Birmingham.
Kyrie Davis, a versatile player hailing from Americus, GA, stands out as the team’s alpha. Standing at an impressive 6’6″ with a position-less playing style, Davis showcases remarkable effectiveness and efficiency when the ball is in his hands. His high motor and ability to cover substantial ground on the court make him a force to be reckoned with. Davis is poised to lead the
way for a team that returns a wealth of talent.
Yannis Woods, a 6’8″ forward from Jonesboro, GA, is a true all-around player at his position. With exceptional lateral movement and the speed of a deer while running in transition, Woods excels as a rim-runner in transition. He also contributes significantly as a shot-blocker and rebounder while he also displays excellent skills in screen-and-roll situations. Woods adds depth and versatility to the Hawks’ roster.
JoJo Bell, another key returner, stands tall at 6’4″ and comes from Carrollton, GA. He has been drawing attention from colleges such as FAMU and Southern Indiana due to his impressive athleticism. Known for his remarkable leaping ability, Bell is a sight to behold when he takes
flight. Coach Cory Baldwin praises Bell’s improvement as a shooter since joining the team, enhancing his already impressive skill set. Bell’s versatility shines as he can play multiple positions, ranging from the point guard to the power forward spot, and boasts a solid handle on the ball.
With Davis, Woods, and Bell leading the charge, the South Georgia State College Hawks are well-positioned to make waves again in the upcoming season.
